South Africa is a country with many different cultures and a rich history. In many areas we help one another to over come our strives and challenges and one of the ways that Extreme Abilities encourage the people of South Africa is to create a platform for disabled people to experience alternative approach to wave riding. We are proud of more than a decade of pioneering and developing Adaptive Surfing (Parasurfing) in South Africa. We try to introduce it to as many disabled people as possible. Extreme Abilities is a registered non-profit company that organizes sporting events for less privileged people living with disabilities. We rely on fundraising, sponsorship and cooperation between other disability orientated organizations to operate our community events. If you feel that you can contribute to our work with the disabled community of South Africa, please feel free to contact us at any time. We appreciate any form of help!

Establishing a Surf Club for the West Coast

Inaugural meeting to establish the very first surf club on the West Coast.

The West Coast of South Africa is rich with world class waves and few people to surf them. Extreme Abilities has been actively developing adaptive surfing for disabled people across South Africa over the past 14 years. Currently based in Saldanha Bay, Extreme Abilities has placed its focus on further developing the surf culture, expanding to the general public and not only for adaptive surfing, but all surf disciplines (shortboard, bodyboard, SUP etc). During the meeting we will discuss the future of surfing on the West Coast.

We are proud to announce that the club has officially been established at Dial Rock in Saldanha on 24 February 2024 with 21 people that attended and more still to join. If you reside within the Saldanha Bay Municipal area and want to join, any age, any style all welcome to sign up.

Die Weskus Krewe

Since 2022 we set out to develop a grassroots platform where people can learn to surf and then to compete at surfing events. Our first group to complete their first 100 hours of time spent in the water and that have competed at a few events have came up the the identity of the Weskus Krewe, the team of both able body and disabled surfers that surfs under the banner of the West Coast. The Crayfish, or Red Rock Lobster, is a symbol that is firmly linked with the West Coast of South Africa as a sorted delicacy that is uniquely of the Weskus culture.
